They’ve got that Rider pride in the sky.
Some fans of the Saskatchewan Roughriders were busy catching flights Friday out of the Regina Airport to head to Toronto to help cheer on their team in person Sunday during the CFL East Final against the Argonauts.
Among those travelling east were Brian and Louise Mohr.
“We’re super confident. I think they absolutely have a shot, despite what the CFL predictor is saying. I think we’re going there with a lot of confidence as I think the team is as well,” said Louise.
The couple explained they had already planned on attending the Grey Cup in Ottawa on Nov. 26. They had also planned to be in Toronto this weekend to visit friends. As soon as the Riders won the East Semi-Final against the Redblacks, a second playoff game instantly became reality.
“We just lucked out. Our timing was perfect and the Riders pulled through for us,” she said. “There will be other Rider fans that will create a lot of excitement as well.”
Brian said they’ll be visiting friends in Toronto, but has a suspicion they’ll be among other friends too.
“Whenever we’re wearing Rider gear, inevitably somebody comes up to you and says ‘Hey! A Rider fan!’ and give you the high five,” he described. “It seems like the fans come out of the woodworks and everybody wants to support their team. You find Rider fans not only throughout Canada but really throughout the world.”
