Fans from all over Canada have assembled in Ottawa for the Grey Cup, but there’s one fan base that would appear to outnumber the rest.
“I think by far though the most colour we’ve seen is green but certainly the other teams are well represented,” said Regina’s Brian Mohr, who travelled with his wife Louise to the nation’s capital on Monday to take in the Grey Cup and a full week of festivities.
The Mohr’s went to the East Final in Toronto, but were left disappointed the Saskatchewan Roughriders lost to the Argonauts.
Despite that, the couple is still looking forward to Sunday’s CFL championship game. They had previously planned on attending whether the Riders made it or not.
However, it might be hard to tell the team didn’t make the final judging by the number of fans who traveled to Ottawa. Whether it’s on tours of museums or Parliament, one thing seems to be prevalent.
“There is lots and lots of Rider fans so lots of green…there’s a good camaraderie,” said Louise.
“The city itself is really embracing the CFL and the Grey Cup. Everybody seems to be in the playoff spirit here so it’s a lot of fun,” added Brian.
They called it a family atmosphere interacting with fans of the green and white along with fans of every other team too.
Brian said while he loves the Riders, he’s still a fan of the league in general. However, looking into his crystal ball, he said confidently he’s looking forward even more to next year when the Riders make the Grey Cup.
