The 2017 Grey Cup is going to be played in Ottawa on Sunday between the Toronto Argonauts and the Calgary Stampeders.
Every year, the game sparks the same debate. Do you want to watch a Grey Cup game on a cold day at the end of November, or would you like to see the CFL season moved up?
CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie gave his state of the league address on Wednesday. He personally likes the idea of moving the season up.
“Imagine playing our Grey Cup, let’s just say the third week of October when it’s beautiful everywhere and you don’t have to wear nine hundred layers of clothing,” he said.
Ambrosie said more research needs to be done and more conversations need to be had. He said he wants to consult fully with fans and the CFL board before they would make any change.
Since Ambrosie became commissioner five months ago, he said he’s been constantly asked about the season change.
