It is one more year for Wally Buono and best of luck to Ed Hervey being the general manager of the Lions with Buono still around as the head coach.
Buono admitted he keeps the big office as Hervey says he doesn’t care. But where does the buck stop? Buono says it stops at Hervey, but we’ve seen the Lions try to move forward with Buono no longer on the sidelines.
Mike Benevides became the head coach. Buono the GM.
Players were still going to Buono as if he was the head coach and the product on the field continued to decline and so to, did the culture Benevides was trying to establish.
While Buono says this is just a one-off year and he’s gone after 2018, there is also a pending ownership change.
Will the new owners want Ed Hervey as their GM? Hervey says he’s gone through many regime changes in his career and will be fine with another.
It’s going to be interesting viewing from the outside to see how this rare and convoluted hierarchy works for the Lions.
