Regina police are looking into whether a sexual offender they warned the public about may be using the dating app Tinder.
In November, police released a photo and information about 30-year-old Phillip Lionel Levac. Levac was recently released from prison after being convicted of violent sexual assault.
Police warned the man has re-offended several times as a youth and as an adult and had not completed any programming in prison to lower his risk committing more crimes.
In a post that is circulating around social media, a woman warned online daters that a profile that shared the name, age and likeness of Levac appeared on the popular online dating app Tinder.

Regina police have not been able to confirm that the profile was created by Levac himself, but are investigating.
Police are also looking into if being on an online dating site would violate Levac’s probation.
Levac was released from prison with a number of conditions including that he would have to “immediately notify his probation officer or designate of any person with whom he becomes involved in a sexual or close personal relationship” and “consent to the probation officer or designate notifying such person or persons of the offending history.”
The Facebook post has been shared more than 250 times with many commenters expressing disgust that a man of Levac’s history was let out of jail in the first place.
Regina police discouraged any sort of vigilante justice as had been mentioned in some of the comments, but were encouraged that the release of his information was having the desired effect: that people would be cautious if they came across Levac in the community.
Levac is currently living Regina North Central neighbourhood.
He is described as being six feet one inch tall, weighing around 240 lbs with a muscular build.
He has multiple tattoos including an angel on his left shoulder, a skull on his left calf and the word “desecrator” on his left shin.
