Stairway to Heaven: last Taylor Field structures demolished

The sounds of pounding, beeping and hauling fill the air around the site of the former Taylor Field as construction crews work to demolish the remaining structures left standing.

The City of Regina confirmed the stadium’s deconstruction is right on schedule, with the last of the above ground elements to be down by the end of the week.

Thursday afternoon, track hoes and multiple pieces of machinery weaved between piles of rubble, as several staircases leading to nowhere remained.

In October, the west grandstand came crashing down in a controlled collapse.

Once all buildings have been removed, deconstruction of the foundation will follow over the next few months.

The city said complete site restoration is on track for the end of April, but as always for construction, that’s dependent on the weather.
