In the past few days we’ve had Zach Collaros traded to Saskatchewan, Kevin Glenn released and James Franklin sign officially with the Toronto Argonauts.
But there is one major quarterback story line that I’m waiting for.
No, I’m not talking about Johnny Manziel—though that’s a juicy storyline as well.
I’m talking about Darian Durant and the Montreal Alouettes.
Mike Sherman, the new head coach, has worked with Brett Favre and other NFL greats. He still has some time to assess the tape and come up with a conclusion on whether Durant is the best option in Montreal.
Durant comes in with a high salary and not a lot of wins to show for it and like Kevin Glenn, there is no doubt the veteran Durant still has the passion and drive and, I believe, ability to win again in the CFL surrounded by the right pieces.
A big factor keeping Durant on stable ground in Montreal will be the lack of other options now available to Kavis Reed and Sherman, outside of now Kevin Glenn.
Of course, when it comes to the CFL quarterback carousel, we’ve learned to expect the unexpected.
