Canadian men’s Olympic hockey team unveiled

Hockey fans in Canada are learning exactly who will be playing on Canada’s Olympic men’s hockey team at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Hockey Canada made the announcement on Thursday.

In a move that sparked some controversy, this year the NHL would not allow its players to compete in the Olympics.

While some player names may sound slightly familiar such as former Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ben Scrivens as well as former Calgary Flame Rene Bourque the usual lineup of NHL stars will be missing from Team Canada for the first time since 1994.

Former WHL players who didn’t make the NHL are also rounding out the roster.

Linden Vey from Wakaw, Sask. made the team, along with former Moose Jaw Warrior Quinton Howden.

Canada’s head coach Willie Desjardins also hails from Climax, Sask.
