No one likes boring.
And that’s why Duron Carter became one of the fan favourites in Saskatchewan. There was nothing boring about Duron Carter.
Trust me. I’ve seen boring. There have been more than enough great players come through Saskatchewan who wouldn’t or couldn’t open up and show any semblance of personality.
They were boring and you’d notice that as good on the field as they were, it didn’t create much in terms of fan interest about that player.
With Duron Carter you have talent, a personality, generosity, humility and humour.
Yes, you also have spats with teammates and coaches that can distract the team from the goal, but only if they allow them to.
Chris Jones seems to be able make sure those things don’t become distractions. Jones admits believing Duron Carter will be a perfect player and teammate is impossible and he wasn’t afraid to admit it.
Just like Duron Carter isn’t afraid to be himself.
And Duron Carter is anything but boring. Thank goodness.
