Being a sports fan Sunday afternoon offered a huge array of choices.
On one channel the NFL was playing the Pro Bowl, an all-star football game that doesn’t allow blitzing and looks like a bunch of people in dayglo colours walking on a crowded sidewalk, trying to avoid running into each other.
Another channel offered the NHL All-Star Game, with young superstar Connor McDavid wearing a gawdy, white uniform in a goofy, three-on-three format that apparently outlaws back-checking.
TSN had the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which features 16 teams from hither and yon vying for the Canadian women’s curling championship. One squad is known as Team Wild Card, for crying out loud!
The channel changer stopped at golf because the PGA Tour was playing at Torrey Pines, a course I love and know quite well. But most of the coverage focused on Tiger Woods, even though he was nine shots off the lead.

Off went the TV. I went to a junior hockey game between the Swift Current Broncos and Regina Pats. Nothing beats being there.
