Grow up, Duron Carter!
This isn’t a chiding about being charged for marijuana possession. Cannabis is going to be legal in Canada by July 1, so it’s not a horrible crime. The fact Carter was charged at Saskatoon’s airport, well, that seems a little more serious. The fact that it was a second charge, following an unreported possession charge from November in Winnipeg, makes it a little more serious.
Suddenly Carter is a serial offender. Does he carry joints around in his pocket, simply forgetting they’re there? A talented wide receiver, Carter just signed a new contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Upon the re-signing, Riders boss Chris Jones admitted there might be some bumps in the road with Carter; that something unexpected could happen at any moment.
Carter’s actions are always unpredictable, from pushing coaches to fighting teammates to highlight-reel coaches to chirping fans and opponents. This isn’t a felony, it’s not something that should end his career, but it’s more than a speedbump. According to a few Green Zone listeners, it’s a pothole!
