Police have laid a first-degree murder charge in Regina’s second homicide of the year.
Officers were called to the 1400 block of Pasqua Street just after 8 p.m. Sunday, after a 40-year-old man was reportedly shot during a robbery.
Paramedics rushed the man to hospital, where he later died.
Around 9 p.m., police said they caught up with a suspect driving a stolen car through the city’s northeast industrial area. Officers chased the vehicle until it crashed into a police cruiser at Albert Street and College Avenue.
Chad Barre, 31, was arrested and charged with a number of offences — including first-degree murder, armed robbery using a firearm and flight while being pursued by a peace officer.
Barre made his first appearance in provincial court Tuesday morning.
