Many people took in the Waskimo Winter Festival on Family Day.
The festival that celebrates winter had many activities for people to enjoy including snowshoeing, snow cricket and even trying out a fat bike.
The bikes with the wide tire weren’t hard to miss on Wascana Lake.
You can also give fat bikes a try 🚲 Bert from @westerncycle tells me you have more traction & flotation on loose surfaces like snow so it’s “a perfect bike to ride in the winter in Saskatchewan!” #yqr pic.twitter.com/2od80mpDdZ

Bert Seidel with Western Cycle was part of the group giving people a chance to try out the bike.
“With that big wide tire you have more traction and more flotation on loose surfaces like snow or sand,” Seidel said. “It’s the perfect bike to ride in the winter around Saskatchewan.”
He added most people might find it harder to steer compared to a normal, standard speed bike. Seidel said a person gets more of a work out as well as you have to peddle a bit harder.
“It keeps you warm though as your body temperature will rise quite a bit just trying to ride through (different) conditions,” he said.
There was also plenty to do indoors at the Conexus Arts Centre.
Three stages were set up at inside with a variety of shows playing throughout the day.
This was the second year in a row Waskimo was back at Wascana lake after a 14-year hiatus.
