For the ninth time in 12 seasons and the third year in a row, head coach Dave Taylor once again has the University of Regina Cougars women’s basketball team in the Canada West Finals.
The Cougars – top seed in Canada West and second-ranked team in USPORTS – swept the Calgary Dinos on Friday, winning game two 66-60.
Charlotte Kot lead the team in scoring, putting up 14 points. Kyanna Giles also contributed 12 points in the win.
Michaela Kleisinger was grabbing almost everything off the defensive glass, getting 11 defensive rebounds, which was the game-high.
The team has lost both previous championship games to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
The Cougars will host either the Huskies or Trinity Western Spartans on March 2. They will play game three of their series Saturday.
