Regina police spent a few hours dealing with a suspicious package in the downtown area Monday morning before determining it posed no risk to public safety.
Police officers were called at 7: 20 a.m. on Monday to deal with a suspicious package left on the sidewalk overnight on Hamilton Street between 11th Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive.

The street was blocked off to pedestrians and traffic and members of the police Explosive Disposals Unit were called out to assess the package. They determined it was not dangerous.
According to a sign posted on the door, the Royal Bank of Canada branch in that location delayed opening until the incident was dealt with.

The package was removed and police cleared the area shortly before 10 a.m.
