Since 86-year-old Robert Clubb moved to the 800 block of Wascana Street in 1992, every winter he’s cleared his entire block’s sidewalk. And Monday afternoon was no exception.
For the last five years, he’s used his own creation — a ride-on lawnmower with a blower attachment.
“I ordered (the lawnmower) from Sears and same with the blower. When it came in, I took the deck off and put the blower on,” Clubb explained.

As a retired mechanic, Clubb added making his new makeshift snowblower gave him something to work on.
“(The neighbours) appreciate it, I guess. Not too many say anything, but when they don’t have to shovel, it makes quite the difference,” he said when asked whether he’s ever thanked for his goodwill.
However, Clubb noted his neighbours on either side recognize his hard work.
“I do their (driveways) — one’s a lady and one’s a young guy, so it saves them a lot of muscle.”
Clubb said this past snowfall’s the biggest workout his new contraption’s had since he built it half a decade ago.
