Mike Babcock is right, as usual.
The Leafs’ coach was annoyed about another strange ruling on goaltender interference and said the league needs to get things together before the playoffs.
Nobody knows what the rule is. And if Mike Babcock doesn’t get it, nobody will get it.
You know what is about to happen, right? In the NHL playoffs, we will see a few questionable calls on either goaltender interference or offside.
In fact, we’ve already seen this. The Edmonton Oilers’ Cam Talbot recently made sure to remind everyone about Ryan Kesler holding his pad in the playoffs last year which was ruled a good goal.
Good grief, enough already. The coach’s challenges in football and in hockey are supposed to be for egregious errors but now challenges are making egregious errors in the video review.
So what’s the point? It’s clearly not to get the call right, so to Mike Babcock, I suggest rather than nailing down a rule, how about eliminating the challenge altogether?
Has it really improved the game? Clearly not.
