The Toronto Raptors are the best team in the Eastern Conference and it’s interesting that this team’s run towards the number one seed in the East is registering a blip on the radar in these parts.
The Raptors could be on their way to their first NBA Finals appearance but maybe that’s just it. Fans have been burned by jumping on the Raptors bandwagon, only to see LeBron James and whichever team he’s on take the Eastern crown.
It could happen again this year, but it looks like the Raptors have something different this time. There are fewer lapses on the defensive end. DeMar DeRozan is a super-star who – like he did on Wednesday night – can take over a game.
I’m still skeptical.
LeBron James is still in the Eastern Conference and the Boston Celtics have the makings of a team that has another gear that Toronto doesn’t have come playoff time.
But it’s the NBA and it’s frustrating that as excited as you want to get about Toronto, the question remains: do they have enough to beat one of the dream teams from the West?
Likely not. Houston or Golden State will be holding the championship.
