In light of the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy, there will be a very different tone in the way the Saskatchewan 2018 budget will be delivered in the legislature Tuesday.
There have been no jokes or talk of budget shoes, nor any of the usual proceedings that lead up to a budget speech on any other year.
Instead, at 1.30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon Finance Minister Donna Harpauer will simply stand and deliver her financial plan for the province. She will do so just steps from where a memorial and book of condolence is laid out for the Humboldt Broncos.
Harpauer has been the MLA for Humboldt for close to two decades.
The finance minister has signalled this budget could be a tough one, but her primary focus is on the tragedy that has touched so many people across the province.
