Seeing sticks, headsets, pens and paper line porches is quite something.
The simple action to remember the Humboldt Broncos went viral and continues to grow.
New York Islander John Tavares and other hockey stars joined the tribute by placing a stick outside their doors. But then it grew to headsets or microphones for broadcaster Tyler Bieber, goalie sticks for Parker Tobin, stats pages for team volunteer and statistician Brody Hinz.
Photos popped up from Hawaii, California, Omaha and Europe.
How did it all start? Quite simply actually, and actually from someone from Humboldt.
They went to high school with TSN broadcaster Brian Munz, another Humboldt product who broadcast Bronco games early in his career. Munz tweeted out the photo with the text he received from his friend, as they grieve for their hometown.
The gesture seemingly small but for those who would love for these lost lives to play one more time, the gesture was grand. The text read simply, “Leaving it out on the porch tonight. The boys might need it….where ever they are.”
