Two images appeared within seconds of each other on social media, showing Dayna Brons and Chris Beaudry — the dichotomy of the Humboldt Broncos’ bus crash.
Dayna Brons, evidently with her pet dog, was the 25-year-old athletic therapist for the SJHL team. She was the only female on the bus, had been critically injured Friday, and Wednesday sadly became the 16th member of the team to die.
Saskatchewan, Canada, the hockey community and people around the world mourn her passing, knowing what a vital contributor she was to the Broncos family.
So was Beaudry. He’s an assistant coach who was driving to the Broncos’ playoff game against the Nipawin Hawks. He wasn’t on the bus. Beaudry was shown wearing skates, in a hockey arena, carrying a stick and now helping the Hawks prepare for their championship series against the Estevan Bruins. The SJHL decided its playoffs will resume Saturday. And the Hawks graciously invited Beaudry to join them.
