A former member of the Saskatchewan RCMP will spend time behind bars as a historical sexual assault case comes to an end.
Alan Davidson, 62, pleaded guilty to charges from two men who lived in the Yorkton area at the time of the assaults back in March. Davidson sexually assaulted them when they were teenagers.
He was also found guilty of five counts of indecent assault from various cases throughout British Columbia.
While the two Saskatchewan incidents date back to 1987 and 1991, charges didn’t come forward until RCMP received a tip in 2014.
It came after the men from B.C. made their accusations two years prior.
At the time of the Sask. assaults, Davidson was a known hockey coach along with a member of the Yorkton RCMP detachment.
On Tuesday, a B.C. Supreme court judge sentenced the 62-year-old to six years in jail, minus 15 days of time served.
Davidson will be on the national sex offender registry for 20 years, is ordered to provide his DNA to the national criminal database and banned from firearms for 10 years.
