This weekend is the NHL Draft Lottery… and let us imagine for a second the Edmonton Oilers win again.
It would be the both the greatest thing and the worst all at the same time.
Having one team continue to beat the odds would be amazing and the Oilers would get a great defenceman to complement their roster that is in need of quality defencemen.
So for Oiler fans, they would get another piece to a team that can still build to win soon.
But it would be a joke for that to happen. That would make it five wins in nine years for the Oilers.
Here is the silver lining for fans of the 30 other teams getting right ticked off about the Oilers luck.
It would finally change the format and maybe the league would go back to the good old days and have the worst team pick first like we see in the NFL every single season.
Worried about tanking? Who cares? At least if a team picked five straight years first, means they’ve sucked, rather than having a horseshoe shoved you know where.
