The driver of a pickup truck has died after a crash with a semi on Friday.
RCMP said officers responded around noon on April 27 to the scene on Highway 9, eight kilometres south of Yorkton.
According to police, a northbound semi and a pickup truck driving south collided head-on, sending the vehicles into the west and east ditches along the highway.
The semi-tractor and trailer, which was hauling industrial ventilation equipment, caught fire – but there were no hazardous materials involved.
The driver of semi was taken by ambulance to a Yorkton hospital with minor injuries.
The male driver, and only person inside the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was closed until later in the evening. A reconstructionist went to the scene and the investigation is still ongoing.
The name of the driver of the pickup truck is not being released at this time.
