Those going to the Eagles concert at Mosaic Stadium are being asked not to take any pictures or stand during the performance.
Evraz Place has sent out a list of things to know before Thursday’s show.
In a section titled Event Rules, the following message is written:
“All guests are asked to remain seated during the concert and refrain from taking any photos on professional or personal cameras, including cellphones.”
Some on social media have called the rules silly, with others are asking how this could truly be enforced in a stadium of 30,000.
Evraz confirms it didn’t make those rules and is instead passing the information along from the band’s promoter.
“I think where the Eagles are coming from is that they really want to make sure that they maximize your enjoyment as well as the enjoyment of those around you,” said Shalyn Kivela, manager of digital media and corporate communications with Evraz Place.
“It’s just really about wanting you to be in the moment and enjoying the concert.”
She admitted it will be hard for security to enforce thousands of people to not use their phones, or to stay sitting down during the performance of the legendary rockers.
“I do think that will be tough because the Eagles are an amazing band. It’s going to be a really fun night. I think people are going to have a really hard time fighting the urge to get up and dance and have a great time,” Kivela said.
She explained the rule around remaining seated during the show is moreso for fans to be aware of those seated behind them and to not stand if it blocks the view of others.
Aside from that, Kivela said many of the same rules and requirements fans are used to around Saskatchewan Roughrider games will be in place during the concert as well.
Elphinstone Street around the stadium will close at 3 p.m. that day, the bike valet service will be available and transit will be offered for free for those attending the concert with pickup locations the same as the ones for Rider games.
There will also be a no in-and-out policy so once someone leaves the venue they aren’t being allowed back in.
The Eagles take the stage at 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Memorial Cup opening ceremonies are also planned for 7 p.m.
