The president of the United States is playing the anthem card again with the NFL.
Although this time the president can’t get his story straight. In a note from the White House, they said the Philadelphia Eagles visit was called off because the team disagrees with the President on standing for the national anthem proudly, hand over heart… blah blah blah.
On Twitter however, the president was a little more honest saying because not a lot of players were attending they cancelled the event, but did take another shot at the NFL’s new anthem policy that would allow players to stay in the locker room if they didn’t want to participate in the anthem. He called it just as disrespectful as kneeling.
The Eagles join the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors in the category of major champions to get uninvited by Trump, although the Warriors had made it pretty clear they weren’t going before Trump could rescind the invitation.
Instead the Warriors went to Washington and took a group of kids to the African-American Museum and talked to them about life and encourage them.
Hopefully, the Eagles can organize a similar trip to do some good to counteract the president’s … how did Warriors coach Steve Kerr put it… oh yes…. idiotic fake patriotism.
