Four schools in Regina’s north end were put into secure the building mode Tuesday due to social media messaging.
Around noon, there was a police presence outside M.C. Archbishop O’Neill High School, St. Peter Elementary School, Laval and Thom Collegiate.
In an email to media, police said this is in response to a social media post that was viewed as a concern but has not been proven to be valid at this point. The schools were put under a secure the building protocol as a precaution.
The protocol ended around 1:30 p.m.
Police identified the suspect and made an arrest.
The investigation is still ongoing but charges are expected.
Secure the building means classes continue normally but the outside doors are locked and anyone leaving or entering the school through the main doors will be monitored by designated staff members.
