OK, raise your hand if you still think the Riders should play Duron Carter on defence over offence.
So Chris Jones is the only one?
After an off-season of free agent camps, a mini-camp, and a training camp, the Roughriders SHOULD have found more than one defensive back capable of playing solid football so they can keep Carter on offence.
They need him there. He can go up and get jump balls, a few of those landed in Redblack hands last night. He draws attention away from Naaman Roosevelt, who was double teamed because they had a rookie playing beside him instead of a 1,000-yard Carter.
And then there are the clear flaws on defence — penalties, blown coverages are not made up by the one positive play he made.
Enough with this. Carter is one of the most naturally gifted receivers in the league. Keep him there.
Chris Jones says Carter will be a DB for the foreseeable future. I’m sure the opposition offensive and defensive coordinators are happy to hear that news.
Jones’ quarterbacks … not so much.
