Rider Nation already wears its pride on its sleeve on game day, but Saturday it’ll also be able to show it’s Humboldt Strong.
Not only will the Roughriders be paying tribute to the Humboldt Broncos and their families ahead of the game against the Montreal Alouettes but special merchandise will be available for purchase at Rider Store at Mosaic Stadium.
“Early on we spoke with the Broncos and really we wanted to help in any way we could,” said Mark Habicht, the Roughriders director of retail operations.
As it happened, the Broncos were having trouble keeping up with an overwhelming request of Humboldt Broncos merchandise and that’s where the partnership began.
What it turned into was with two distinct designs, Broncos jerseys, pins, mini-sticks and pucks.
“We worked very closely with the Broncos on all these items, they’ve made sure they were involved in the development and the approval of all we made,” Habicht said.
Additionally, the proceeds of all of the sales will go to the Humboldt Broncos Community Foundation – the same place all the money from the GoFundMe went to after the crash.
All of the clothing, jerseys and collectables will go on sale to the public at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the main retail store outside the stadium or the store inside the Stadium on the south side behind Pil Country.
In the days that follow the merchandise will also be made available at the other Rider Stores across the province as well as online.
