A Regina man is facing charges for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl last fall.
Police arrested Sheldon Dennis Joseph Schuler, 59, on Thursday after a lengthy investigation into the disturbing assault reported last September.
The victim, who was 13 at the time, reported being drugged and sexually assaulted by a man whose name she did not know at a house in Regina on Sept. 16, 2017.
Regina police reportedly worked with outside law enforcement agencies, which added to the length of the investigation.
When they identified Schuler as a suspect in the case, and found supporting evidence of the crime, he was arrested and charged on Thursday.
Schuler is charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement and sexual interference.
He made his first appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
