Man charged with break-in, sexual assault in Pierceland

Saskatchewan RCMP reported Tuesday that a 41-year-old man has been charged with breaking into a home in the community of Pierceland, committing a sexual assault and then firing a gun at another driver on a rural road.

Pierceland RCMP were called to the home around 3:45 p.m. Monday with a report of a sexual assault.

Officers arrived to find the suspect, armed with a gun, had already taken off in a pickup truck.

From there, police said the suspect got into a confrontation with another driver at a rural intersection about two kilometres southwest of Pierceland.

The suspect allegedly shot at the other vehicle before driving away. Police said more gunshots were heard in the area shortly afterwards.

No injuries were reported as a result of any of the shots.

RCMP officers from the Pierceland, Loon Lake, Meadow Lake and Cold Lake detachments searched the area, along with members of the provincial protection and response team.

They eventually found and arrested 41-year-old William David Angus.

He’s charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, assault with a weapon and various firearms-related charges.

Angus also faces counts of mischief and driving while disqualified.

He’s due to appear July 19 in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
