People in the town of Eastend are being encouraged to drink lots of water right now, but it can’t be straight from the tap because they’re under a precautionary drinking water advisory at the same time as a heat warning.
Eastend is also under a heat warning covering the southwest corner of the province early this week due to temperatures above 32 C.
On Monday morning, a precautionary drinking water advisory was issued for the town because of the turbidity of water found in a filter at the water treatment facility.
Turbidity is a measure of the cloudiness of the water caused by particles. A federal government website explains this can impact the effectiveness of the treatment of the water.
People in the town are being warned to boil tap water for at least a minute before drinking it, cooking with it, cleaning dishes or brushing their teeth.
The heat warning for the southwest is supposed to last until Wednesday afternoon.
