Police have charged a 17-year-old man after the RCMP disposal unit responded to an early morning call about an item that looked like a pipe bomb last month.
Around 1 a.m. June 14, Swift Current RCMP located three suspicious items in the middle of a library parking lot on the 400 block of Herbert Street East in Swift Current well away from any structures.
The disposal unit was called in to assist and the items were destroyed as a precaution.
Over a month later, the investigation has led to charges against a 17-year-old man from Swift Current for possession of an explosive without lawful excuse and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
The 17-year-old cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He is being held in custody and will appear in provincial court on Friday.
