A planeful of passengers who got on a flight in Regina expecting to land in Toronto got stuck in Winnipeg for a while Friday morning.
It was WestJet Flight 156 which was scheduled to take off at 5:30 a.m. on Friday and land in Toronto at 8:20 a.m.
In an email, WestJet said there was a mechanical malfunction during the flight which required a “precautionary engine shutdown” which occurred in the air.
Around 7:15 a.m., the flight landed normally at the Winnipeg airport. WestJet said the plane was towed to a holding pad and the passengers were taken off.
No one in the crew or cabin were hurt.
As of 10 a.m., WestJet said it was still trying to book guests onto other flights.
