Don Mitchell has gone from speaking at city council to speaking in front of a judge, pleading guilty to drunk driving.
The former Moose Jaw city councillor entered his plea Monday to a charge of driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) over 0.08.
He reportedly hit a parked semi with his vehicle around 10 p.m. on July 19 in Moose Jaw.
The Crown prosecutor recommended a $1,000 fine plus a $300 victim surcharge, plus a mandatory one-year driving ban.
Mitchell served on Moose Jaw city council until the end of June, when he reportedly left his seat due to a family illness.
