Two people are now facing charges after driving the wrong way down Arcola Avenue in a stolen Kia Rio on Wednesday.
Regina police used a spike belt to stop the vehicle but despite hitting it, the suspect and passenger continued to drive around the Al Ritchie neighbourhood, even driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Arcola Avenue.
Eventually, a man and woman exited the car and ran off, but were arrested a short distance away.
Now a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman are facing multiple charges.
The man faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, flight while being pursued by a peace officers, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified.
The woman faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a scheduled substance (cocaine), possession of a concealed weapon (dog spray), possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, possession of prohibited weapon knowing it’s possession was unauthorized and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device in a motor vehilcle.
Both appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Friday.
