Berkly Catton, Brayden Yager, Caden Price and Tanner Howe were all named.
Before the Calgary Stampeders arrived for Sunday’s CFL game, during Green Zone discussions and commentaries, I said this was a contest the Saskatchewan Roughriders had no chance of winning.
But, I insisted, these were the games the Roughriders would somehow surprisingly win. And when it came time to make our bold predictions on the pregame show, I couldn’t pull the trigger. Despite that brilliant notion that the Riders were upset kings, I couldn’t pick the Roughriders over the undefeated Stampeders.
Dumb, dumb, dumb. I should have listened to myself.
Jamie Nye and Belton Johnson agreed with me. Realizing he could be the only one picking Saskatchewan, Woodsy chose the Roughriders. Saskatchewan led 14-0 after the first quarter, played its best all-around game of the season, got an offensive and defensive touchdown from Nick Marshall and beat the Stampeders 40-27. The Roughriders are now 4-4 and heading to B.C. for a game Saturday. And Calgary is 7-1. Who knew?
