It was a great Canadian moment and Saskatchewan got to see it live and in person.
Brooke Henderson, the 20-year old golf phenom, showed composure and embraced the moment as she never let off the gas on her way to a four-shot victory in her national tournament and her lowest round of the weekend, a 7-under 65, on Sunday.
From the outset, Saskatchewan showed its ability to host a major event. Led by over a thousand volunteers, hospitality many said was second to none and a gallery who surrounded Canada’s golf superstar from the time she teed off on Thursday afternoon all the way to the final hole, in the rain on Sunday.
My job allows me to witness some cool moments but this is among the best I’ve ever seen. The shot-making was incredible and to see a Canadian win on home soil in our own backyard, you couldn’t have written up any better.
I don’t know if the province will get to host this event again, but I certainly hope so.
