A 57-year-old man from Sakimay First Nation is dead following a hit and run on the reserve Sunday morning.
Broadview RCMP received the call to Saskimay First Nation around 12:15 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found the 57-year-old deceased and the vehicle involved in the collision had fled the scene.
Mounties eventually located the vehicle involved at a home on the First Nation. The vehicle was seized for evidence through a search warrant.
With help from a forensic traffic re-constructionist, and Yorkton’s forensic and general investigation sections, a man from Sakimay First Nation was identified, arrested and charged.
He’ll be in court Wednesday on one count of failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving death.
