Moose Jaw police have released a composite sketch of a male suspect in one of three sexual assaults on women walking alone near the downtown over the last two summers.
The drawing is from a suspect in one of the assaults. While police said there is not conclusive evidence all three cases are linked, they all involved young women between 17 and 30 years of age who were walking alone near the downtown area after midnight.
Police first got a report about a sexual assault in June and a second on the weekend of August 11. A third assault was also reported in August but happened a year ago. In all three cases, the victims reported being approached while walking alone between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. and accepting a ride from a lone man in a vehicle.
The suspect is described as being between five feet, 10 inches tall and six feet with a medium build and brown hair. The estimated age is between 30 and 50 years old.
Police are asking the public to report any similar incidents, including situations where a woman may have been approached but did not accept a ride. Police are also reminding people that it’s safer to walk in groups at night and to not accept rides from strangers.
Anyone with information about this suspect or who has any information to report is asked to contact Moose Jaw Police Service at 306-694-7600 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
