On the Green Zone Post Game Show we got a call from Dean in Saskatoon.
He came out firing, saying plan the parade, sound the horns, the Saskatchewan Roughriders were on their way to their fifth Grey Cup Championship.
The Riders had just edged the Blue Bombers in the Banjo Bowl for their fourth straight win with another defensive clinic by Head Coach Chris Jones and his defenders that continue to score just as much, sometimes more, than the offence does.
There is reason to be excited! The team is rolling and with the Calgary Stampeders losing, first place and hosting the West Final is still in the conversation. Either way, a home playoff game is in sight.
But when I asked Dean if he believes all that if Zach Collaros is injured and Brandon Bridge takes over, there was a noticeable pause, and draw out ‘well’.
And that was an appropriate response to my question.
Because I’m close to where Dean is in terms of thinking this Riders team has something special.
In the CFL mid-season media poll, I was one of the five of the 50 to say the Riders will win the Grey Cup.
But, if Collaros, who left to undergo concussion protocol is injured and the team has to rely on Brandon Bridge to get the job done.
Well….
