For better or worse, Bill Belichick and Chris Jones are cut from the same cloth.
Belichick traded for Josh Gordon as he continues to prove he doesn’t care about your past. As long as you can help the Patriots win football games, Belichick would love to have you.
Two years ago, Belichick signed Michael Floyd a day after Arizona released him for being completely hammered behind the wheel of a car found stopped at an intersection. Floyd wasn’t suspended until the off-season when Belichick had already decided to pass.
Belichick brought in the enigmatic and egomaniac Randy Moss, who helped break records with Tom Brady.
That trade was similar to Jones bringing in Duron Carter. Heck, you just have to look at the current Riders and look into the backgrounds of guys like Tre Mason or Matt Elam to see, Jones isn’t so concerned with what you have done, as long as you help him win games.
And it when it comes to lovers and haters of these two men, both have their fans and their critics. But like everything else in sports, winning helps.
