Of course, this only applies if you’re not a Leaf fan, because you are thrilled there is something to be excited about.
But there we were on Tuesday night witnessing headlines about chemistry building with newly acquired John Tavares and Mitch Marner. One, even musing that fans are planning the parade after Tavares scored two goals in his Leafs pre-season debut.
Yes, excitement reigns supreme for Leaf Nation.
On the flip side, Ottawa Senator fans were dealt another eye-rolling embarrassment when their General Manager was asked on national television what Ottawa fans should feel optimistic about.
A pretty simple question, right? Well, not entirely.
Pierre Doirion paused awkwardly, seemingly unable to find a way to answer the question about optimism following a trying off-season that was capped off with the trade of Erik Karlsson.
It was as hilarious for non-Senator fans as non-Leaf fans find the growing hype out of Toronto tiring.
