Congratulations to Max Domi for your week off until the NHL regular season begins at the beginning of October.
Domi will be fresh and ready to go, thanks to the NHL Player Safety Department making sure Domi is kept safe from injury by suspending him for the rest of the pre-season after sucker punching Florida’s Aaron Ekblad on Wednesday night.
No fine, no regular season games lost. Just time for Domi to get himself ready for the regular season. Heck, why didn’t the NHL throw in a week stay in Barbados or the Dominican for Domi to relax.
There are some things athletes hate, like training camps and pre-season games. Modern athletes train all summer to be in shape at this time of year and for the most part, they already have their jobs.
Now, the precedent has been set. Sucker punch an opponent in the pre-season on your first shift and you too can be stress-free knowing your health and your spot on the team will be there for the game one of the regular season.
