Snow and ice are being blamed for a minor hiccup at Mosaic Stadium.
In an email Wednesday afternoon, the Regina High School Athletic Association said that its Thursday football games were rescheduled and relocated to Leibel Field due to “water issues under the turf.”
Officials from Evraz Place – who run Mosaic Stadium – confirmed the water issues, explaining the melting snow caused an ice blockage that prevented water from draining off the field.
A turf technician was brought in Wednesday and was able to resolve the issue the same day.
According to Evraz, the fix is permanent and ice blockages are not expected to be an issue again.
The Roughriders are expected to practice at Mosaic Stadium at 11:30 a.m. as scheduled on Thursday, but the high school games will remain at Leibel Field.
