One man is dead and another is facing a second-degree murder charge following an incident involving family members on the Pelican Lake First Nation Saturday.
Spiritwood RCMP said officers were called to a home on the First Nation after an altercation where a man sustained life-threatening injuries.
Officers with the Ministry of Environment’s provincial response team, along with EMS, also responded to the call.
When police and paramedics arrived on scene, RCMP said Dustin Chamakese had died from his injuries.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Saskatoon.
An investigation into the man’s death is being conducted by members of the major crime unit north, forensic identification section and police dog services.
Lorin Chamakese will make his first court appearance in Spiritwood on Tuesday.
RCMP have confirmed the accused and the victim are related.
