Moose Jaw company fined for 2017 death of worker

A Moose Jaw company has pleaded guilty and is facing nearly $24,000 in fines for the death of a construction worker in 2017.

Lorne Tardif, operating as Elite Eavestroughing, pleaded guilty to breaching a clause in the safety regulations as an employer for failing to provide proper instruction, training and supervision to protect workers.

On June 16, 2017, a worker fell off a roof of a home while taking a measurement.

The company pleaded guilty on Oct. 3, 2018, in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.

The company was fined $17,000 plus a surcharge of $6,800 equaling $23,800 in fines.  Two additional charges were withdrawn.
