The CFL’s sack leader, Saskatchewan Roughriders’ Charleston Hughes, will be making an appearance in court due to an impaired driving charge.
Saskatchewan provincial court confirmed to 980 CJME Hughes has been charged with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample for analysis.
Regina Police said they received a call for a report of a suspicious vehicle around 2 a.m. on Oct.11, two days before the Saskatchewan Roughriders played against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
A truck was running on the side of the road in the area of Ring Road and North Albert Street Overpass with a man behind the wheel who was not responding to police.
Police members asked the man to get out of the vehicle. Once he did, since he showed signs of intoxication, he was taken into custody and taken to Regina police headquarters where charges were laid.
His next court date is set for Oct. 31, 2018.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders indicated they are aware of the situation and will monitor the situation closely as it makes its way through the court.
