Well, October the 17th is here and maybe now we can start talking about ending the stigma around marijuana, especially when it comes to the medicinal side.
Of course, more research needs to be done but in Canada, sports organizations should be looking deeper into the benefits of cannabis, in all forms, that could deal with different issues athletes may have.
Many athletes could suffer from more than just the injuries here and there and pain can be controlled through pot.
Highly addictive painkillers are handed out like skittles and could lead to serious addiction and substance abuse problems.
But substance abuse is also an issue in sports. Some of these players are dealing with extreme anxiety or other mental health issues caused by the extreme pressure put on them.
You know what some have used to combat anxiety, sleeping disorders and similar issues. You guessed it, cannabis.
It may not be the remedy for all but with legalization, it should be looked at as another option.
