After four decades of dollar drafts and karaoke, The Pump Roadhouse in Regina is closing its doors.
A new mosque is going up in the bar’s place on Victoria Avenue East.
“We decided to close in early July to do a renovation and then we got approached by a realtor and lo and behold, there was quite a bit of interest from the Islamic Association of Saskatchewan,” Mark Smith, co-owner of the Pump explained in an interview on the Greg Morgan Morning Show on 980 CJME Thursday.
“They liked the property, so I just decided that maybe it was time to let go.”
Over its 40-plus years, the nightclub has had a wide array of iconic acts roll through from Boney M. to Toby Keith.
Before shuttering for good, Smith noted there will be “one more last hurrah” between Nov. 21 to 24.
“We’re going to fire it up one more time for Agribition this year, and we’re going to give the Pump a good farewell.”
